What You think about PrestaShop upgrade?
Hi all - what You are thinking PrestaShop upgrade process? Is it hard? Or easy?
I am thinking, that PrestaShop upgrading is fine - upload the files and rerun the installer. After thet - remove again installer. And that's all. I haven made several upgrades so - and no problems. But still some users thinking, that it is to hard. |

I update 3 times that I did PrestaShop 1.1.5 from 1.2.0.1 and 1.2.0.8 at the end after the 1.2.1 update is a risky business, but I did come very easy after learning

Having used many other carts and open source products over the years I have found that the upgrade process is quite simple, e.g.: backup site/db, download new files (overwrite files in the same directory) and click on 'upgrade' (for example) and the process is completed automatically. I have actually changed carts as a direct result of this hassle and the vulnerabilities as I simply want to be able to do business and don't want to risk losing or disrupting the store that I have worked so hard to create and develop. I have a fair amount of experience, so I can only imagine how daunting or concerning this would be for a newbie. It's such a pain for me as I manage several client shops as well. I've come back to PrestaShop, hoping that the upgrading process would have been simplified and streamlined at this point and found this post while Googling the upgrade process and seeing that nothing has changed (having reviewed the Wiki) in regard to this, my only real reluctance in getting involved with PrestaShop again. I can only think that there is a long line of folk that, like myself, left the cart for another option due to these very concerns, or who have checked back and, unlike myself, have not bothered to give feedback about why they are not using PrestaShop any more. I am reluctant to work with PrestaShop because of the hassle, yet am very pleased with the overall look and feel of the cart so if this could be resolved I would be the first in line to re-install, install on my client sites and recommend this cart to others without hesitation. Hope this is helpful to you in your decision as to whether you will be making the effort in the direction of improving and simplifying the installation process. |
